The device is simply another version of aero cloning. It was designed as a cheap and simple alternative to buying a ready made aero cloner and it is easier to build and operate than the other home made aero cloning tub designs, so it was nicknamed Cheapo-Aero.(click here for building instructions)
It works on the principal of the cuttings stem being suspended in an open airspace, which is intermittently misted by water droplets. Sometimes called simply "bubbling tub aero cloning".
